I will rather take a risk with a new face in the coming gubernatorial election in Anambra State than resort to voting for recycled ones. The majority of the recycled politicians have not done anything meaningful to impact the general society. Instead, they have duped the people of their common resources. We cannot keep crying that the usual suspects have failed us and when we have the civic right to change our fate, we still support them with their exploitation.
Certain qualities are innate in individuals that if they do not exhibit them the first time
Most of the candidates for the governorship election in Anambra State have their antecedents clearly visible to the enlightened electorate. Those who have served in prominent offices of the government have their reputation marked. The unfortunate thing is that none of them scored a passing mark. Let them point to any tangible responsibility of their office they have executed without benefitting grossly from the privilege.
A record of achievement is what is desired of any candidate campaigning for the gubernatorial office in Anambra State. It will help to support their agenda to redeem the state or build up on the success of the previous leaders. Anambra State has distinguished itself by reckoning with the calibre of personalities that are exemplary in engendering good governance. The ambition to do great work must be boldly highlighted in the resume of the candidates campaigning for office.
Passion for futuristic leadership is what the citizens should demand from the candidates. You cannot expect to get too much mileage from a worn-out tire. Youth, together with the fire to pursue an agenda that will throttle the engine of the state to an enviable future among the great governments of the world should be the vision of every electorate in the state. The candidates can give a mammoth list of the wonderful accomplishments they made in their neighborhood and nothing to show for the spotlight they have in the mainstream society. Those are just rhetoric.
Bad politicians know how to paint themselves with the colour of rose flowers come the election season. It is the duty of the electorate to reflect on whether the candidate performed well the last time he or she had the opportunity to be in a political office. They can polish their language better than a shoe cleaner can shine a shoe or throw money around like it is falling from a tree. The pivotal question for every electorate is, are the candidates investing in their future or desiring to fulfill the vision of the society? You can surely look back in their career to know what their motivation is. Look for the new face with ambitious profile in the Anambra State election. It is better to try a new hand than to be rubbed with potty in your face by the recycled bad politicians.
