Christmas for 350 Families in a Lagos Slum

Summary
Our community impact Christmas project makes Christmas possible for families with low or no income, who cannot afford to put decent meals on the table or provide Christmas gifts for their children. Our goal is to provide dry foods to 350 indigent families in a slum community in Lagos, supporting them to not go hungry this Christmas. Every family deserves to experience the love, hope and joy of the Christmas season and no child should go hungry, especially at Christmas!
Challenge
Christmas is luxury to a vast majority of people in our underserved community, who struggle to feed their family. Food is a necessity and everyone deserves to share in the joy of Christmas. This projects aims to alleviate the plights of indigent people by ensuring they have food during the holiday.
Solution
When there is food on the table, it can help to reduce crime driven by the desperation for survival by all means and keep our community safe during the holiday.
Long-Term Impact
This project has a lasting positive impact on mothers when they have the opportunity to cook and put homemade meals on the table for their children, more so during the holiday season. Also, it has a positive impact on the self-esteem of children, having the opportunity to eat food prepared at home with their families. This is a big feat because many families reported that it had been a while since they could afford basic groceries.
